Cookie queen, wooden spoon lady, and champion of carbs, Anastasia Vitsky specializes in F/F fiction. She hates shoes and is allergic to leather. When not writing about women who live spankily ever after, she coordinates reader and author events such as Spank or Treat, Love Spanks, and Sci Spanks. Her favorite event is Ana’s Advent Calendar, a month-long celebration of books, community, and making a difference.
She is too afraid to watch Doctor Who, but she adores The Good Wife and anything with Audrey Hepburn. In her next life, she will learn how to make the perfect pie crust. She can be found at governingana.wordpress.com and on twitter @AnastasiaVitsky.

Nineteen-year-old Sonna forages for fish heads while dodging street pimps. A talisman leads her to a mysterious man, who offers one command:
Go to Princess Kira. She needs you.
Baffled, Sonna embarks on her journey. What can a pauper offer a spoiled princess? Will the street girl surprise them all?
Six years after the mysterious talisman brought Queen Vina to Talia, it chooses a new owner in Sonna, a child of the streets. Unprotected by her amputee father and beaten by her mother for failing to bring home scraps for the family to eat, Sonna runs into the self-assured Kira, daughter and heir to Vina’s queendom.
Weary of endless rules and duties involved in training to become the future queen, Kira leaps at the chance to escape with a new friend. She places the priceless talisman around Sonna’s neck, but neither can remove the jewelry.
Alarmed at losing the talisman’s protection, Vina and Talia take drastic steps to protect the princess. In the process, the entire earth descends into chaos.
Five years later, nineteen-year-old Sonna forages for two-day-old fish heads while dodging street pimps. The talisman leads her to the mysterious Nicodemus, who offers one command:
Go to Kira. She needs you.
Baffled, Sonna embarks on her journey. What can a pauper offer a spoiled princess? Will the street girl end up surprising them all?
A Beyond Fairytales Adaption of The Snow Queen
Against my chest, the talisman grows warm. It quivers, almost as if it is afraid. Or perhaps it creaks like an old, unused piece of machinery. I take out the metal to rub it clean with my spit, and the gems glow bright as the stars.
I jump backward, dropping the necklace. I’d throw it down the grate if I could remove the chain from around my neck. Sorcery! A necklace refusing to be removed spoke of magic, but I hoped it was benign. Is this a demon’s voice? Am I spawn of the devil?
I am not a demon, my child. I am one who loves you the way your mother does not.
I whimper. Demon or not, Mother will order an exorcism if anyone finds out. A little girl was possessed last year, and the shaman beat her with a wooden stick. Over and over, commanding the evil spirits to leave the child. I can face many things, but not the wrath of a demon chaser.
The one you love has locked her heart to you. You must find her, and you must remind her of the day you promised to love her.
Shaking from head to foot, I risk speaking out loud. “She never came back.”
That was not her doing. Do you still care for her?
Soft kisses, sweeter than any of the delicacies she fed me. The tingle of her touch, transporting me to a world in which my shame no longer mattered. Standing before her, scrubbed clean, and watching her eyes widen in surprise and longing.
Curling next to her side, trusting her. Believing when she told me to follow her. I would never be hungry again, she said.
She loves you.
No one ever loved me before.
She needs you. Find her.
Before I can think of a response, the gemstones fade to silver and the metal grows cold.
Find her. But how?

Commonly Asked Questions
- What’s your book about?
Last year, Taliasman told the story of a poor woodcutter’s daughter who ascended to Heaven. The response to this story was overwhelming, so much that I received requests for a sequel. I wanted to leave Talia and Vina to their happy ending, so instead Taliaschild focuses on their daughter, Kira. The little girl has grown up into an indulged princess, despite the best efforts of her parents and governess. Based on The Snow Queen, Taliaschild tells the story of young love, growing up, and reaching a loved one despite intense emotional difficulties.
- Where did you get the idea for this book?
I’ve always loved The Snow Queen, and I am a fan of Frozen as well. I took Frozen’s concept of two girls (instead of the original girl and boy) who love and care about each other, but I turned it into a romance rather than a tale of sisterhood.
- What traits and other tidbits do you share with your main character?
A better question might be, who is the main character? Spoiled Kira who resents the restrictions on her life, or hardscrabble Sonna who fights for the right to be human? I identify with Kira’s longing for freedom. Sonna has an edge to her that I love. She’s not soft, pretty, or any of the typical feminine traits. She’s a girl-turning-woman in her own way, without the rules and restrictions of the upper class. I may not be Sonna, but I love her strength and passion. Adversity can destroy the human spirit, but it can also refine souls into brilliance. Sonna, I hope and believe, will become brilliant.
- Did any of your inspiration for this book originate in your real life experiences?
I give thanks I have never had to forage for two-day-old fish heads in trash containers! Sadly, I also don’t have icicle magic. I’d give a great deal to be able to shoot ice from my fingers on command. I can’t say much of this story came from my real life experience, but I do have a special place in my heart for childhood love. Nothing is sweeter.
- Does your book take place in a specific region that would make people take an interest?
Like Taliasman, Taliaschild is equally split between Heaven and Earth. There’s also reference to the Otherworld and the goddess of death, but I can’t give too much away.
- Do you have other project in the works? If so, what are they? I have more projects than time to finish them! I recently finished a short story, “Dreams of Flying,” that tells of a sixty-one-year-old retired librarian who moves to Florida and falls in love with the president of her homeowners’ association. It’s one of the first stories to show lesbian love at an older age, and beta readers have been thrilled to see themselves represented in romance. It should be published soon as part of the collection First Lady Love.
I’m also working on sequels to Mistress Please and I have most of the sequel to Seoul Spankings planned out. There will be a few other projects this year, including Flying Change, my story with a half-fairy. I can’t wait to discover the mischief my characters have planned. After all, how fun would it be to fly away from a dreaded but well-earned spanking? Raven’s Girl and Freiya’s Stand have had to be put on hold for now, but I hope to get those finished soon. There will also be a sequel to Gemstone in December and a special “naughty church ladies” book at the same time. Don’t forget Ana’s Advent Calendar 2015!
